Synopsis
Lea, A National Religious, Born in Israel, of Irish Italian and Polish origin. Residing in Ophra, the settlers pride. She is forty six years old. Married and mother of five children. Until four years ago she worked as a high school teacher. Nowadays she is employed by the Ministry of Education and Culture as supervisor for education and democracy In addition she teaches at the Ephrata College (a religious college) in Jerusalem. While adhering to Judaism, Lea is also interested in other mystical teachings. Her eldest daughter Hodaya calls those interests “Mother’s new follies” – “They enrich me” – says Lea – “anyway all this already written in the Bible” – The sublime, the high and the beautiful characterize her way of thinking. Neither does she shun Coffee shops on Shenkin Street (bohemian secular area), or Tel-Aviv colorful garment shops, but in her spirit and soul she belongs to Ophra, she describes as a “community of grace”, “Little Switzerland”.
-“Fear? I don’t let it control my life. I have a bullet-proof jacket in my car. The children ride in a bullet proof bus, and I wait for them at the bus station in Jerusalem. In the midst of all the insanity, we try to lead normal life, go to the theatre, to the movies, to art exhibitions… All the rest is on the hands of God.”
